What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies allow a site to remember information about your visit, such as your preferred language and whether you are logged in. Some cookies are essential for the site to operate. Others are optional and help us improve the platform — they are only set with your consent.
Why we use cookies
Lotteria Nazionale uses cookies for four reasons only: keeping you logged in, remembering your settings, measuring basic platform performance, and protecting against fraud and account take-over. We do not run third-party advertising cookies, social-network pixels, retargeting or behavioural ad networks. The platform has zero advertising-tracking code by deliberate choice.
Cookie categories
We group cookies into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always on. The other three categories require your consent and can be toggled at any time from the cookies banner that appears on your first visit, or from your account profile → cookie preferences.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the platform to work. Disabling them is not technically possible because you would not be able to log in or submit pool entries.
- ln_session — login session token. First-party, session-only, HTTPS, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax.
- ln_csrf — anti-cross-site-request-forgery token. First-party, session-only, HTTPS, SameSite=Strict.
- ln_consent — records which optional cookie categories you have agreed to. First-party, 365 days.
- ln_geocheck — verifies your session originates from a Spanish IP for regulatory checks. First-party, session-only.
Functional cookies
These cookies remember small preferences that improve usability but are not strictly required for the platform to function.
- ln_lang — preferred interface language (en or es). First-party, 180 days.
- ln_theme — interface theme preference. First-party, 180 days.
- ln_layout — leaderboard layout preference. First-party, 90 days.
- ln_recently_viewed — list of the last five pools you opened, for quick navigation. First-party, 30 days.
First-party analytics cookies
We run a self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance to measure platform performance. Plausible is privacy-friendly by design: it does not use cookies in the strict sense, but if you would prefer the alternative behaviour, the toggle is available.
- ln_analytics_optin — records whether you have allowed first-party analytics. First-party, 365 days.
- ln_pageview — anonymous, hashed visit identifier rotated every 24 hours. First-party, 24 hours, only when analytics is opted in.
We never share analytics data with third parties, never enrich it with personally identifying information, and never use it for advertising.
Preference cookies
Preference cookies remember choices that are not strictly required to use the platform but help personalise the experience.
- ln_chat_seen — records whether you have seen the chat widget welcome message. First-party, 30 days.
- ln_news_dismissed — records dismissal of the newsletter prompt in the footer. First-party, 90 days.
- ln_betacheck — used to flag access to beta features for opted-in players. First-party, 365 days.
Third-party cookies set by processors
Two of our processors set their own cookies during specific operations, scoped narrowly to their service.
- Veridas KYC widget — sets a short-lived session token during identity verification, scoped to the verify subdomain. Cleared automatically after verification ends.
- Adyen payments widget — sets a fraud-prevention token during card or Bizum payments. Scoped to the payment iframe and cleared after the payment completes.
We do not embed Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, X (Twitter) Conversion tracking, Hotjar, FullStory or any other third-party analytics or behavioural-advertising script.
Cookie durations
Every cookie listed in this policy has an explicit lifetime printed next to it. Where the value reads "session-only", the cookie is deleted when you close the browser tab or window. Where a numeric duration is listed, the cookie is automatically deleted from your device after that period, even if you do not revisit the platform.
Local storage and other client tech
The platform uses browser localStorage entries to remember a small set of UI states. None of these contain personally identifying information.
- ln_users — local-only cache of registered demo accounts (used only when the offline/demo mode is active).
- ln_session — local-only mirror of the current session, for instant UI hydration.
- ln_lineup_draft — a draft of your prediction sheet, kept locally until you submit.
You can clear localStorage from your browser at any time without affecting anything held on our servers.
How to manage cookies in your browser
You can clear, block or restrict cookies through your browser's settings. The exact route depends on the browser — generally Settings → Privacy → Cookies. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in or submitting pool entries; you will still be able to browse public pages.
Withdrawing consent
If you previously consented to functional, analytics or preference cookies and want to change that decision, open Profile → Cookie preferences or click the cookie-icon control on the bottom-left corner of any page. Toggling a category off clears existing cookies from that category from your device on the next page load.
Children and cookies
The platform is not aimed at anyone under 18. We do not place behavioural-advertising cookies, do not run profiling on visitor behaviour and we do not retarget visitors via cookies. If you believe a minor has visited the platform, it is safe to clear cookies and close the session — no further activity will be possible without re-verification.
Changes to this cookies policy
If we add or remove a cookie, this policy is updated and the version number at the top is incremented. Material changes — for example a new third-party processor cookie — trigger a renewed consent banner on your next visit. Non-material updates (renames, typo fixes) are published silently.
